Letters and News

26/06/20

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we enter the final few weeks of what has been a year like no other, I would like to update you on the staffing for each class in the autumn term.

It is with deep regret that at the end of term, we will be saying goodbye to Mr Duffil and Miss Moss. Miss Moss has been a ray of sunshine in EYFS since January and I know how much the children have enjoyed being with her each week. She has been an enthusiastic and positive member of the team and we wish her the best of luck in her new position, teaching in Hull.

Mr Duffil has been with us for two years and has been a positive and charismatic teacher who we will sadly miss as he has brought a fun energy to the school and the children have loved being taught by him. Coming to us a newly qualified teacher, he is keen to spread his wings and broaden his experience, teaching in a different position. He has also become a father whilst working at Wold Newton and I know how much everyone will wish him well. I will miss his positivity (maybe not his jokes) and I hope he will come back and see us in the future.

From September, the staffing structure will be as follows:

EYFS: Mrs Rix (Monday), Mrs Richardson (Tuesday to Friday), Mrs Ibson, Mrs Barnett and Mrs Hancox

Class 1: Mrs Brierley, Mrs Murphy and Miss Luckett

Class 2: Mrs Garthwaite (Monday to Wednesday), Mrs Sutcliffe (Thursday and Friday) and Mrs Smith

Class 3: Mrs Armitage and Mrs Skinner

We welcome Mrs Armitage, our new class 3 teacher. She is a very experienced and positive teacher who is coming to us from an outstanding school in Hull. She is really looking forward to meeting you all and can’t wait to make a new start with us in September. We also welcome Mrs Barnett, our new member of support staff, who will be working in EYFS and I know she is over the moon to work in such a caring and supportive school.

The decisions regarding the staff structure at Wold Newton have been done so with great consideration and discussion with both staff and Governors. We hope this will provide the children with the best learning experience whilst here and hope that you will continue to support us during the change.

We are currently awaiting guidance from the Department for Education regarding the proposed return to school in September. Unfortunately, schools and quite possibly the DfE, don’t hear about updates until the government announce them to the general public and so guidance then takes time to trickle through to us. Once we receive the guidance, we will produce a plan and share it with you via the website (coronavirus updates page) and via class dojo. Fingers crossed that we can get all of the children back in September although we will be extremely conscious of the safety procedures needed and will make everything as safe as we possibly can.

On a final note, I would like to thank you all for supporting the school and the children at home, over the last year and I hope we can get back to a ‘new normal’ soon. I wish you all the best for the coming weeks and please do contact the school if you have any queries.

Kind Regards

 Mr L Fletcher
